Elmwood Park police are investigating the deaths of two residents found Friday in their home.

Elmwood Park Police Chief Frank Fagiano said Robert Salked, 52, and his son Branden Salked, 20, were found dead in their home at 2451 N. 73rd Court. He said police received the call from a relative of the two men at 12:14 p.m. Friday.

Fagiano said there is no evidence foul play is involved, no sign of forced entry to the single family home and the fire department found carbon monoxide levels to be normal.

“There was no blunt force trauma to the body,” he said.

Police did discover what appeared to be an illegal substance in the home. Fagiano said it will be sent to the state’s lab for testing.

The men died about five hours before being discovered, according to Fagiano. The bodies have been turned over to the Cook County Medical Examiner.

“Until the Cook County Medical Examiner conducts an autopsy on the bodies, we won’t know the exact cause of death,” Fagiano said in a press release.

Police are classifying the incident as a death investigation, not a homicide. Investigators are awaiting the toxicology reports to determine the cause of death for the two men.

Fagiano said relatives of the deceased have been notified and are cooperating with authorities. The two men lived at the residence along with five other family members. The family is renting the home.

The investigation is ongoing and Fagiano said it’s possible that the cause of death will be determined by the end of the weekend.
