The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the Elmwood Park and River Grove police departments. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.
Elmwood Park
THEFT
At 1:39 p.m. Jan. 31 a theft was reported on 2800 block of Harlem Avenue. A Walgreen’s manager reported to police that an employee had taken prescription drugs from the store.
At 12:27 p.m. Feb. 2 a car was reported stolen on 2600 block of 74th Court. Sometime overnight unknown persons took a 1989 White Nissan 240sx.
MARIJUANA
Joel Barajas, 25, of 3127 N. Marmora Ave., was arrested at 10:54 p.m. Jan. 31 at Harlem and Grand Avenues and was charged with possession of 464 grams of marijuana, a street value of $4,000. His court date is Feb. 8.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
At 10:12 p.m. Feb. 2 a car was reported damaged at 75th Avenue and George Street. Unknown persons smashed the window on a 2004 Toyota Corolla and fled in another vehicle.
At 3:58 a.m. Feb. 5 a home was reported damaged on 2800 block of Harlem Avenue. Unknown persons threw a brick at a window breaking the glass and setting off the alarm.
DUI
Wojciech Ruszczyk, 24, of 3638 N. Odell Ave., Chicago, was arrested at 4:01 a.m. Feb. 5 on 7200 block of Grand Avenue and charged driving while under the influence of alcohol. His court date is March 15.
River Grove
THEFT
Ryan Conlon, 36, of 3333 N. Marshfield Ave., Chicago, was arrested at 3:08 p.m. Feb. 3 on 3100 block of Thatcher Avenue and charged with retail theft. Conlon entered Dominick’s Finer Foods and allegedly took at least 15 various bottles of liquor, total value $648, and proceeded to leave the store without paying for it, but was stopped by security. His court date is March 1.
BATTERY
Oscar Ortiz, 34, of 2646 Elm St., was arrested at 4:46 a.m. Feb. 1 on 2600 block of Elm Street and charged with domestic battery. Ortiz allegedly punched a hole in the wall and threw his keys at the victim. His court date is Feb. 9.
COUNTERFEITING
David Paralewski, 33, of 8228 Westsmith Lane, was arrested at 1:13 p.m. Feb. 1 on 8200 block of Westsmith Lane and charged with counterfeiting trademarks and possession of marijuana. Paralewski allegedly had counterfeit sports apparel sent to him and upon delivery to his home he was placed under arrest. During the arrest police reportedly found 30 grams of marijuana in his residence. His court date is March 13.
