After 23 years on the job as Elmwood Park’s village manager, John “Jay” Dalicandro will be leaving the post.

The Elmwood Park Village Board voted to accept Dalicandro’s request to take an early retirement. Dalicandro, 54, plans to step down from his position in June.

Elmwood Park Mayor Peter Silvestri said Dalicandro has been a great asset to the community and will be sorely missed.

“He did a great job,” he said.

Dalicandro, the longest serving village manager in Elmwood Park, is a native of the village. He graduated from Elmwood Park High School and earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from Loyola University in Chicago.
