Parents hear during Franklin Park program of child care assistance cuts

More than 60 people showed up Wednesday evening at a meeting in Franklin Park to hear how state cuts in childcare will impact them.
The Child Care Assistance Program helps low-income working parents with children 12 years of age or younger. Gov. Pat Quinn has proposed several cuts in the program and higher co-payments for parents.
Parents, along with the owner of Small World Learning Center in Franklin Park and the Illinois Action for Children non-profit, spoke of plans to rally in Springfield. They also asked parents to contact state Rep. Angelo “Skip” Saviano and state Sen. Don Harmon to express their support for the program.
