Turning the soil in order to plant a treee was a fitting tribute on Arbor Day.

The River Grove Beautification Committee and River Grove Public Works led the village’s annual Arbor Day Celebration on April 27.

There were about 200 people in attendance. Among them were students from River Grove Elementary School and those who are a part of LRC Workshop, 8607 Arnold Ave.

They all met at the LRC Workshop to plant four trees.

“It’s a way to teach our students and children the importance of trees in our community,” said Brent Leder, director of River Grove Public Works. “We’re all tree-huggers. The trees keep our community beautiful.”
