Elmwood Park Police Blotter, June 18-25

The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the Elmwood Park, River Grove, Franklin Park and Northlake police departments. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.

Elmwood Park

BURGLARY

At 9:22 a.m. June 19 a motor vehicle was reported burglarized on 2300 block of Harlem Avenue. Sometime between 4 p.m. June 18 and 8:15 a.m. June 19 unknown persons broke into a Dodge Caliber.

THEFT

At 8:47 p.m. June 19 a theft was reported on 1800 block of 72nd Court. Sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. June 19 unknown persons stole a tan 1997 Saturn.

At 8:22 p.m. June 21 a motor vehicle was reported stolen at Belden Avenue and 75th Avenue. Sometime between June 18 and June 21 unknown persons stole the motor vehicle.

At 12:07 a.m. June 22 a theft was reported on 1600 block of Harlem Avenue. Unknown persons took a bicycle from a parking lot area near Walgreens.

At 4:50 p.m. June 22 a theft was reported on 7900 block of Grand Avenue. Unknown persons entered a locked gated area and removed three gas cans, with gas in them, from a trailer.

At 2:22 p.m. June 23 a theft of a bicycle was reported on 2300 block of Harlem Avenue. Sometime between 9 a.m. June 15 and 12:30 p.m. June 22 unknown persons removed a bicycle from a place where it was being stored.

BATTERY

At 10:18 p.m. June 21 a battery was reported at 74th Court and Fullerton Avenue. A man punched another man in the face twice and kicked him in the head when he fell down.

At 2:51 a.m. June 23 a battery was reported on 2200 block of 75th Avenue. A man punched another man in the face.

At 4:24 a.m. June 23 a domestic battery was reported on 7400 block of George Street. A woman slapped her boyfriend

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

At 4:15 p.m. June 20 a residence was reported damaged on 3100 block of 78th Avenue. Unknown persons tried to pry open the back door to a residence and the door to a garage.

At 4:21 a.m. June 22 a car was reported damaged on 7900 block of Metropole Street. A person was observed tampering with park cars in the area and checking doors on the vehicles.

At 11:48 a.m. June 22 a garage was reported damaged on 2500 block of 73rd Court. Unknown persons forced open the overhead door of a garage.

At 11:37 a.m. June 23 a vehicle was reported damaged on 2100 block of Harlem Avenue. The windshield of the vehicle was damaged after a rock was thrown at it.

River Grove

BURGLARY

Julio A. Bergollo, 37, of 2300 N. Harlem Ave., Elmwood Park, was arrested at 2:05 p.m. June 21 on 2600 block of West Street and charged with one count of felony residential burglary. He was arrested in connection with the June 12 burglary of a home on 2700 block of Elm Street. His court date is July 2.

Franklin Park

BURGLARY

Someone tried to break into a vacant building at 3747 Acorn at 8:20 a.m. June 23, presumably to steal metal pipes or wires. The same building had been burglarized on June 6, when copper wire was stolen.

Someone tried to break into a garage on the 2800 block of Edgington between 6 and 11:30 a.m. June 21.

A flat -screen TV and a microwave were reported stolen from a truck on the 9100 block of Belmont Avenue at noon on June 17.

Northlake

THEFT

Quincy Flowers, 24, 4017 W. Monroe, #1, Chicago was charged with theft at Wal-Mart, 137 W. North Ave., at 2:51 p.m. June 17. Police said he allegedly grabbed four laptop computers and six videogames — worth a total of $1,867 — and tossed them over the fence in the garden section.

Aaron Lara, 18, of 164 Golfview Dr., Northlake, was charged with theft from the Northlake Library, 231 N. Wolf Road, at 6:31 p.m. June 20. Police said he allegedly stole a bicycle on June 16.

Rey Sosa, 21, of 11461 W. Grand Ave, Melrose Park, was charged with theft at 12:47 a.m. June 21 near Sandra and Grand Avenue. Police said he was caught allegedly stealing a street sign.

BATTERY

An 18-year-old man was stabbed twice during a fight near Golfview and Lavergne around 10:30 p.m. June 23. The man was treated at Westlake Hospital and released. Police are investigating.
