Leyden area Police Blotters, July 9-16

The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the Elmwood Park, Franklin Park, and Northlake police departments. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.

Elmwood Park

BURGLARY

At 10:46 a.m. July 9 a burglary to a vehicle was reported on 1700 block of 74th Avenue. Sometime between July 6 and July 7 unknown offenders removed several items from a vehicle parked in a driveway.

At 1:21 a.m. July 12 a burglary to a vehicle was reported on 1800 block of 74th Court. Sometime between July 5 and July 9 a global positioning system (GPS) was taken from a vehicle.

At 1:03 p.m. July 12 a burglary to car was reported on 1900 block of 77th Court. Sometime between 6 p.m. July 11 and 7 a.m. July 12 unknown persons removed a GPS from a blue Toyota Highlander.

THEFT

At 11:36 a.m. July 9 a theft from a store was reported on 2800 block of Harlem Avenue. Two men removed four bottles of perfume from Walgreens.

At 5:24 p.m. July 9 an item from a vehicle was reported stolen on 2500 block of 73rd Avenue. Sometime between July 8 and July 9 a hubcap was taken from a vehicle.

At 7:14 p.m. July 9 a theft from a garage was reported on 3100 block of 77th Avenue. Sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 7:13 p.m. unknown persons removed a white bicycle with pink and black stripes from a garage.

At 1:37 p.m. July 11 a theft was reported on 7900 block of Wellington Avenue. Unknown persons took a bicycle from a backyard of a home.

At 8:15 p.m. July 12 a theft was reported on 2300 block of 74th Court. A man snatched a gold chain from the neck of another person.

OBSTRUCTION

Joe Castillo, 26, of 3258 S. Emerald Ave,, Chicago, was arrested at 2:36 p.m. July 10 on 1800 block of 74th Avenue and charged with obstruction of justice while police were in the process of making an arrest. His court date is Aug. 10.

Amanda Mustacek, 27, of 2915 N. Arch St., Chicago, was arrested at 2:36 p.m. July 10 on 1800 block of 74th Avenue and charged with obstruction of justice while police were in the process of making an arrest. Her court date is Aug. 10.

BATTERY

Kevin Russel, 21, of 1243 W. Ohio St., Chicago, was arrested at 2:36 p.m. July 10 on the 1800 block of 74th Avenue and charged with battery and five counts of resisting arrest. His court date is Aug. 10.

At 4:50 p.m. July 11 a domestic battery was reported on 2500 block of 78th Court.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

At 11:05 a.m. July 11 car was reported damaged on 3100 block of 79th Avenue. Sometime between 9 p.m. July 10 and 10:45 a.m. July 11 unknown persons struck the rear passenger side of of car with an unknown object causing a large dent.

Franklin Park

ALCOHOL

Vanessa Magdaleno, 29, of 7747 Nordica, Niles, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding, no insurances and not having a drivers license on her at 3:10 a.m. July 14 on the 4300 block of Mannheim Road. Her next court date is Aug. 9.

BURGLARY

Wiring along with a table saw, hand saw, lawn mower and ladder were stolen from a building on the 10000 block of Pacific Avenue between noon June 20 and 3:39 p.m. July 11. The rear door was forced open.

Several power tools were reported stolen from a 2007 Ford van parked on the 2800 block of Birch Street at 7:59 p.m. July 9. The rear window was smashed.

VANDALISM

The front window of Midwest Title Loans, 3145 Mannheim Road, was discovered broken at 9:52 a.m. July 14.

Northlake

ALCOHOL

Byron Barrios, 22, of 648 S. York Road, #216, Bensenville, was charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol, no valid drivers license, improper lane usage and a blood alcohol level above .08 at County Line Road and Lake St at 3:07 a.m. July 8. His last court date was July 10.

Kelly Kangas, 43, of 22 E. Whitehall, Northlake, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and no proof of insurance at North Avenue and Prater at 1:49 a.m. July 11. Her next court date Aug. 21.

Antonio Jacobo, 36, of 106 Caroline, Elmhurst, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding, improper lane usage at North Avenue and Northwest Avenue at 3:38 a.m. July 13. His next court date is Aug. 21.

THEFT

A 50-gallon garbage can was reported stolen on the first block of Medill at 11:18 a.m. July 9.

BURGLARY

A GPS unit, tools and papers were reported stolen at 2:22 p.m. July 9 from a semi truck parked at AMS Enterprises, 79 W. Lake St. There was no sign of forced entry.
