ELMWOOD PARK — Put a little English on it.

Anglomania — the crazy love of things British — is the word buzzing around back-to-school fashions.

“There is going to be a lot of pops of blue and red together,” said H&M Department Manager Edgar Meja at Oakbrook Center. “Clothes this season are going have an urban feel.”

This includes oversized shirts and fitted jeans. During the summer months there were a lot of neon colors, but according to Meja, this is not going to be the case for fall.

“We are going to be seeing a lot of mustard, green, burgundy and plum,” said Meja. “Small polka dots are also going to be trendy.”

Leopard print is still going to be popular for back-to-school according to Meja. “A lot of it is going to be patches of leopard, instead of a solid leopard print,” he said.

For young girls, thicker leggings are going to be in demand in different colors such as forest green and mustard. Boys are also going to be wearing cargo pants.

River Grove mom Linda Pasterz has a 13-year-old daughter and a 10-year-old son who attend Rhodes School.

“My daughter loves shopping at Delia’s and Forever 21,” she said. Pasterz’s daughter bought new crop tops for school and graphic T-shirts. Since school starts early for Pasterz’s children, they still will be wearing summer clothes for the first month.

“My daughter bought light summer dresses from Hollister and Forever 21,” Pasterz said. “They come up to her knee for school.”

Pasterz’s son is not as picky as his sister.

“He loves graphic T-shirts from Target,” she said. “He’s a lot easier to shop for!” Pasterz did most of her back to school shopping at HIP.

River Grove resident Ashley Boyte is going away to college and purchased a lot of V-neck multi-colored shirts.

“I knew I wouldn’t have a lot of room in my dorm for a lot of outfits,” she said. “So, I bought a lot of clothes I could wear with each other such as skirts and shorts that could be worn with several of my tops.”

For the fall months, Boyte purchased cardigan sweaters, light blue pants, Capri pants, and a leopard print skirt. Her younger brother Robbie Boyte, who is going to be a sophomore at East Leyden, bought Polo’s and cardigan shorts from Hollister and Abercrombie for back to school.

Ivy Ippolito-Foremen who owns Girlicious in Forest Park (7508 Madison St.) said that a huge accessory for back to school is Cross bracelets, necklaces and earrings. Also, gold is going to be popular.

“Big and bold jewelry is very popular,” she said. “This includes hoop earrings, chunky necklaces and Ray-Ban sunglasses.”

According to Ippolito-Foremen, a more edgy look is going to be popular such as skulls, lips and peace signs.

For back to school, a lot of young girls are purchasing large tote bags instead of backpacks with leopard, stripes or zebra print.

Young girls shouldn’t forget to top of their back-to-school look with a great pair of boots and a beautiful smile!
