ELMWOOD PARK — Those who perished trying save others during the World Trade Center attacks in New York in 2001 were remembered Tuesday evening.

It’s been 11 years since the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, and members of the Elmwood Park Police Department, Elmwood Park Fire Department, village officials and residents met at Conti Parkway in the area of the Veterans Memorial to remember the event, those involved and the sacrifices they made.

Elmwood Park Fire Chief Michael Marino was one of several people who spoke Tuesday and said the event was well-attended. A memorial wreath was laid in remembrance of those who died and lost their lives trying to save others.
