ELMWOOD PARK — There was plenty of horsepower at St. Celestine Catholic Church as part of the Fifth Annual Fall Car Show.
The St. Celestine Men’s Club hosts the car show twice a year to raise money to keep the club going, and to help the church and school.
Men’s Club President Don Carfagnini said the Sept. 15 event included 35 cars on display.
“We had a good turnout from the parish and the community,” he said.
Car owners pay a $10 donation to show off their car. The show drew cars from antique and classic styles to muscle cars, trucks and hot rods. Cars were judged for best of show, with first, second and third place trophies going to cars in the stock car category and the modified car category.
“We have a raffle too,” Carfagnini said. “We raffled off 12 prizes, from T-shirts and caps to other items that store owners donated.”
The club has helped repave the St. Celestine parking lot with past event proceeds.
“It (the money) all goes right back,” he said.
The Men’s Club meets at 7 p.m. the second Monday of every month at the church.
