LA GRANGE —The taste buds and wallets of La Grange diners are in for a treat during Restaurant Week.

Eleven eateries are offering special menu items, discounts and prix-fixe menus of three or four courses Feb. 1-10 in the town’s second annual food fest.

Wild Monk plans to offer a food and beer pairing based on the hearty response to pairings featured in December to celebrate the restaurant’s first year of business.

For $18, diners can sample four meat dishes paired with one of 18 craft beers on tap, explained Demetri Kopley, one of the owners.

“In December, we had osso bucco, which is a veal shank, rabbit wrapped with prosciutto and poached, a pork shank and a pork rib bite,” Kopley said.

Chef Francisco Vazquez still is working out the details of the February pairings, Kopley said.

“Actually, beer is more versatile than wine when pairing with food,” he said. “For the rabbit, for example, we did a heavier, darker beer to cut through the fat of the rabbit and prosciutto, with a little bit of spice to it.”
