Crime briefs: $20,000 stolen during Elmwood Park burglary

A home was reported burglarized Dec. 9 on 2000 block of 75th Avenue. According to police reports, sometime between 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., someone broke in through the rear window of the home and took $20,000, a Playstation 3 and jewelry.

A truck was reported burglarized overnight between Dec. 12 and 13 on 2300 block of Harlem Avenue. According to police reports, someone entered the garage and took a set of tires, a radar detector, a laptop computer and a clock from a black Ford-F150 parked in a garage.


At around 3:59 p.m. Dec. 11 on 2500 block of 73rd Court, a neighbor threw a bucket of cold water on a another neighbor’s car because the person had parked their car in a spot in front of the neighbor’s home where snow had been cleared.


A theft was reported at around 6:45 p.m. Dec. 11 on 7400 block of Diversey Avenue. According to police reports, on Dec. 7 two people approached a 78-year-old man at the residence and told the person they would shovel snow at the residence. The two were paid, but never came back to remove the snow.
