Ethics team catches on fast at Triton College

A new ethics class caught on big at Triton College, so much so that students have formed a team that won big in their first competition.

Triton College’s Ethics Bowl Team took third place in their first attempt at competition in the 2014 Ethics Bowl Competition for two-year colleges hosted by Harper College. Daniele Manni, who teaches ethics at the college, developed the team in 2013 to encourage students to discuss ethical issues and argue their positions in a competition.

Manni said competitions are not necessarily based on winning the argument, but how the team best provides reasoning for a given topic. The team meets every week to practice and discuss various topics like self-driving cars or whether people should eat meat.

The team is open to any student with an opinion. The team will start getting ready to compete again in the fall.

For more information or to join the team, email Manni at danielmanni@triton.edu.
