Hot Rocks had so much fun on stage at last year’s Taste of Elmwood Park, the group had no problem signing up to perform again this year.
Dana Bloom, manager of the band that covers music by Rolling Stones, said there were a lot of reasons why they wanted to come back to participate in the event, which has been extended from three to four days.
“It’s a great event,” she said. “It’s a beautiful park. A former band member lives in Elmwood Park.”
The Taste of Elmwood Park will take place in and around Central Park at the corner of 75th Avenue and Fullerton Avenue, with the majority of food and craft vendor booths stationed along Fullerton Avenue. There will be 22 food vendors, 27 craft vendors and nine informational booths at the event.
The Taste will run from Aug. 7 through 10, one more day than the usual three days the festival has run in the past. On Thursday and Friday, the event will run from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., on Saturday from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Hot Rocks is one of 13 musical acts that will be performing on two stages — a main stage and an acoustic stage. There will be live entertainment at one of the two stages every day of the event, starting around 6 p.m.
Hot Rocks will be the event’s first performance, hitting the main stage at 6 p.m. Aug. 7. Bloom says people should be prepared to experience more than a band playing music by Rolling Stones.
“It’s not just music, it’s an entire show,” she said. “They dress like the Stones, and our lead singer looks very much like Mick Jagger.”
Heartache Tonight, a band that covers music by Eagles, will be performing on the main stage at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 10. This will be the second time they’ll be performing at Taste of Elmwood Park.
Tom Carey, leader of the band, said the band enjoyed performing at the event last year.
“It was a nice event,” he said. “We had a warm reception so much so they asked us to play an extra hour.”
He said the music created by Eagles appeals to audiences young and old.
“The people running the festival couldn’t have been nicer,” he said. “It was a pleasure and I look forward to it being the same this year.”
