Leyden special education teachers raise money for Special Olympics and food pantry

Grandma Shot the Badger

A group of special education teachers that have formed a band will hold a concert to raise donations for local organizations. The following release comes from Leyden High School District 212.

West Leyden special education teachers Chuck Alvarado and Rob Abouchar, and retired counselor Roger Roeing, the trio known as “Grandma Shot the Badger”, will perform “A Dusty Rock Musical Review and Sing-a-Long Jamboree” on Friday, August 15, 2014, 8p.m., at Shanahan’s, 7353 Madison St., in Forest Park. The band is doing it all for a good cause – to raise funds for Special Olympics and the Forest Park Food Pantry.

“If you would really like to sacrifice for a good cause, please join us,” guitarist Chuck Alvarado says. “You don’t want to miss an elderly lady with grey hair and a beard performing ‘Grandma Shot the Badger’”.

There is no cover charge and donations for Special Olympics/Forest Park Food Pantry will gratefully be accepted. For more information, please contact Chuck Alvarado at 847-451-3129 and CAlvarado@leyden212.org.
