The public is invited to participate in a celebration acknowledging the recent completion of Triton College’s new pool.

College officials and administers will meet to celebrate the pool’s completion at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 27 at Robert Collins Center, Room 220, on the east side of the campus to officially mark the pool’s opening.

The pool’s filtration system has also been upgraded to save on water and be more energy-efficient. A new Triton College logo has been installed at the bottom of the pool.

The pool has also been made more easily accessible for people with disabilities.

The pool had been closed since October 2013; aquatic-related classes resumed at the new pool in May. The college’s School of Continuing Education offers aquatic classes to teach kids as young as 5 years old how to swim, and offers water exercise classes for adults.

Fall semester credit courses begin Aug. 25
