Although Cook County’s ninth district is vast the incumbent county commissioner and his opponent in Nov. 4 election could be considered neighbors. Republican incumbent, Cook County Commissioner Peter Silvestri and his opponent Frank McPartlin, a Democrat, both live in Elmwood Park. The county’s ninth district is made up 16 municipalities and two wards on Chicago’s northwest side.

New kiss-and-ride ready to roll at Elmwood Park Metra station
Rodia Bernardo has made it a point to take advantage of the Elmwood Park Metra station’s new kiss-and-ride. He lives just north of Elmwood Park and has been using the new curved driveway on the 7600 block of Grand Avenue to pick up and drop off his wife. She takes the train to downtown Chicago or Hanover Park often, and in the past, it was hard to find a parking space to drop her off or wait for her.
