Oak Park group celebrates Shakespeare’s birthday

The Nineteenth Century Charitable Association celebrates Shakespeare’s birthday with a behind-the-scenes meeting with one of the bard’s most dastardly villains. Richard III of England, best known for his many (reputed) murders, will be the subject of a program presented by actors from Oak Park Festival Theatre to examine the king’s motive and machinations, according to historical records and via some selected scenes from an upcoming 2012 production of Shakespeare’s play. The program ($10 suggested donation) will start at 1:15 PM and be followed by a tea. For more information, call the Nineteenth Century Charitable Association, 178 Forest Avenue, Oak Park, 386-2729, or go to www.19thcenturycharity, org.
