Family Friendly: Families can enjoy engaging storytelling at festival
Storyteller Linda Gorman will be on hand at the Family Festival of Stories Oct. 19.
Storytelling with attitude. That’s what Linda Gorham promises to deliver at the Illinois Storytelling Festival’s Family Festival of Stories, 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19 in the Fine Arts Building, Dominican University, 7900 Division St., River Forest.
“I’m known for getting the audiences very involved,” Gorham said. “I will tell some folklore and some stories from popular books. When I tell these stories, it’s movin’ and groovin’. There’s a lot of physicality. There’s a lot of call and response. I get kids and adults up on their feet.”
There will be a couple of creepy stories, including a song with fellow professional storyteller Oba William King. A third storyteller, Mike Anderson, will also perform.
“Everybody is going to be so engaged,” Gorham said.
The event is most appropriate for kids in kindergarten through sixth grade and their families. Come early for face painting at 6 p.m. and a costume parade at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $5 per family or individual.
