There’s a new location and an earlier time for this year’s Family Fireside Halloween.

The event, presented by the River Forest Park District and the River Forest Public Library, will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, at the Depot, 401 Thatcher Ave. and Keystone Park West, 400 Keystone Ave., because of construction at the library.

“At Keystone Park, we’re going to have horse-drawn hay wagon rides which pick up families and take them around the park,” Park District Recreation Services Manager Karen Scherrer said. There will also be pumpkin decorating and a bonfire with s’mores. New this year is a jack-o’-lantern inflatable jump house. Indoor activities at the Depot include Ghoulish Games and a Creepy Craft. At the Keystone Center, there will be Spooky Stories and Songs, and face painting.

“It’s a good combination of activities,” Scherrer said. “It’s always been a popular well-attended event.” And, except for $1 for pumpkin painting, it’s free.
