After years of fund-raising, indoor sporting events at Elmwood Park High School have a new look.
Through various fund-raising events, members of Elmwood Park High School Athletic Booster Club raised $18,000 for the two new scoreboards, which were installed in the school’s gymnasium Jan. 25 and 26.
Elmwood Park School District 401 Athletic Director Doug Noyes said since the new scoreboards have been up and running they’ve received a lot of compliments on how good they look.
“The scoreboard looks a little bit brighter,” he said. “It makes the gym look a lot nicer. It’s been a good addition.”
He said the new scoreboard has prompted the school and booster club to look at making other improvements to the school’s gymnasium.
Noyes said money for a new scoreboard was not in the school district’s budget and couldn’t have been done without the high school’s booster club. The school’s booster held fund raisers and the high school’s athletic teams also pitched in.
The old scoreboard has been taken away and will be used for spare parts.
