Cub Scouts from various troops, members of Elmwood Park Neighborhood Civic Organization (EPNCO) and other volunteers were out in force April 28 to clean up the community.
They started with the baseball field near Elmwood School, 75th Court and Belden Avenue, and spread out into other parts of the neighborhood, picking up trash and debris.
Anthony Del Santo, president of EPNCO, said there were about 25 people who came out to help.
“We picked up tons of garbage, pop cans and beer bottles. The biggest problem area was along Grand Avenue in an empty lot across from Caputo’s grocery store. I didn’t realize how much litter there was out there in the streets but overall it was a very positive event. Can’t wait to do the next one.”
