A 17-year-old Chicago girl was arrested last week after she allegedly fled Elmwood Park police and damaged 11 vehicles, including a squad car.

The chase began at 7:34 a.m. June 11 on 2300 block of 73rd Court at Belden Avenue.

Elmwood Park Police Chief Frank Fagiano said the girl, who was driving southbound on 73rd Court in a green 1998 GM Sierra pickup truck, made a right on to Belden and hit a vehicle, which alerted a nearby police officer.

The officer pursued the truck to the 2300 block 74th Avenue where she allegedly hit several parked cars on both sides of street.

Another police car pulled up in the area of Palmer Avenue, blocking the street to prevent her from driving further, but she reversed, hitting the police car behind her.

“She reverses into a car and the squad car twice,” Fagiano said.

As a result of the numerous impacts to her truck, the airbag deployed and police were able to take her into custody without incident.

“Nobody was injured the police did a really good job,” he said.

The girl was charged with three Class 4 felonies of aggravated fleeing driving and damaging, aggravated DUI with no valid driver’s license, aggravated DUI with no valid automobile insurance and 22 vehicle code violations.
