RIVER GROVE — The Fourth Annual Autumn Jubilee took place Oct. 6, with the German band Paloma, food, an airbrush tattoo artist, and treat bags for children.
River Grove holds the event to welcome autumn and bring families together. All River Grove departments get involved, including the fire, police and village trustees.
Despite the chilly weather, people turned out for the annual event.
“This is our last big outdoor event,” River Grove administrative assistant Jeannie Walsh said. “It’s nice for kids to come out and play in the park for one of the last times of the year.”
Food included brats, hot dogs, corn on the cob, cotton candy, taffy apples, apple cider, coffee, beer, pop and wine. Village trustees shopped for the food and prepared the hot dogs and brats at the event.
“Everyone working here is a village employee,” Walsh said.
Mayor Marilyn May said the Autumn Jubilee is one of the last nights for families to come together before winter.
“To me, it’s a family night,” May said. “I enjoy watching the kids … We are now seeing second generations attend these events. We’re a nice community and I hope everyone enjoys it.”
