ELMWOOD PARK — Over the weekend, someone used spray paint to deface garage doors along Westwood Drive.
According to Elmwood Park police reports, the incidents took place between Oct. 27 and Oct. 28. Spray paint was used on about six garage doors to write words such as “Bubu” and “Izzy” on them.
Some of the graffiti was explicit in nature, with pictures of male genitalia and an alleged gang symbol on one garage.
Elmwood Park Deputy Police Chief Andrew Hock said police are working to find out who is behind the act.
“We’re confident we’ll catch them,” he said.
Resident Jim Santella, who lives on the 7800 block of Westwood Drive, is willing to press charges against the people who did it if the police make an arrest.
“I’m not happy about it,” he said. “I had to paint my whole garage door.”
He has lived on Westwood Drive for 20 years, and for the most part, the neighborhood is quiet. He said he can deal with a bit of graffiti versus more serious illegal activities.
“If this is the worst that happens, I’ll be happy,” he said.
