ELMWOOD PARK — The Voice Party of Elmwood Park opened its headquarters with members introducing themselves to the public.
The party, which has five members running as part of a slate in April for seats on the Elmwood Park Village Board, had its candidates on hand Oct. 27 for the opening of its headquarters, 7332 ½ W. Diversey Ave. People who brought in old light bulbs to the headquarters were given free LED light bulbs in exchange.
Joe Ponzio, running for village president as part of the Voice Party slate, said many residents came by for the opening.
“It’s a great way to be organized and have a central location where they can see what our organization is about, have a cup of coffee and meet the candidates,” Ponzio said.
Anthony Del Santo, running for trustee as part of the slate, said the party needed the space to meet.
“It gives us a central place where everyone can come to have meetings and strategize,” he said. “Instead of working out of a basement, it gives us legitimacy to the residents that we are serious and want to do what’s right.”
