ELMWOOD PARK — Cindy Stazzone would attend Elmwood Park School District 401 board meetings, but she recently made a change. At the Nov. 14 School Board meeting, she was sworn in to fill one of two seats recently vacated on the Elmwood Park School District 401 Board. The seats were occupied by Albert Fang, who left to fill a trustee vacancy on the Elmwood Park Village Board, and Patty Cleary. Stazzone said she just applied for the seat not knowing if she would be chosen. “I was a council member at Grace Lutheran Church in Elmwood Park,” she said. “I heard about it before and I was finished with my service (on the council) at the church, but I was brought up to believe you always give back.” She also still has ties to the school district, with her daughter, Ashley, graduating in 2005; her daughter, Taylor, who is a sophomore at the high school and Joey, who is in the eighth grade. She, along with her husband Joe and their children, have lived in Elmwood Park for more than 20 years.
Q: Anything you would like to implement while on the school board?
A: No just to serve them well. Keep the improvements going. They’ve been a great board for the past year and hopefully I can measure up to what they’ve been doing. Just to keep improving all the way around. Keep our scores up and keep it the way it’s going because it’s going great.
Q: What do you like the most about the school district?
A: When my older daughter was there between then and now the school has improved drastically and I want to see that improve for my next two. When my daughter was there in 2005 there were about 20 kids who took advanced placement classes and now there’s over 100. It’s a huge improvement. That’s great.
Q: What is your occupation?
A: I’m a photographer. I have my own company, Lil’ Angels Photography, and shoot preschool class pictures and a lot of sports.
Q: What’s your favorite brand of camera?
A: Cannon
Q: What’s your favorite color?
A: Blue, like the (Chicago) Cubs.
Q: What do you like to do for fun?
A: Photography and watching the Chicago Cubs. I’m a big Cubs fan.
Q: Will you run for a full term after your appointment to the board ends?
A: I told the board I would run in November.
