Elmwood Park Police Blotter, May 28-June 4

The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the Elmwood Park and River Grove police departments. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.
Elmwood Park
ARMED ROBBERY
At 6:03 p.m. May 27 an armed robbery was reported on 2300 block of Harlem Avenue. The victim reported he was outside of his home flashing money for a photo he planned to post on the Internet. When he went back in the house, the victim said an unknown person entered his home pulled out a gun, robbed him and fled. Police are investigating the incident.
THEFT
At 4:05 p.m. May 25 a theft was reported on 7600 block of Cortland Street. Sometime between 3 p.m. May 18 and 2 p.m. May 21, a Yamaha clarinet was stolen from Elmwood Middle School. It belonged to a student and was valued at $850.
At 8:26 p.m. May 25 a theft was reported on 1900 block of 75th Avenue. Sometime between 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. May 25 a black Schwinn 10-speed bicycle was stolen from the front yard of a residence.
At 3:29 a.m. May 28 a theft was reported on 7900 block of Belmont Avenue, a bicycle was stolen from the common area of a residence.
At 3:48 a.m. June 3 a theft was reported at Barry Avenue and 76th Court. Three men exited a cab without paying the fare.
BURGLARY
At 8:52 p.m. May 31 a theft was reported on 7800 block of Cressett Drive. Sometime after 11 a.m. May 30 the front passenger window of a silver Honda Civic was smashed and a radar unit was stolen.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
At 5:05 p.m. May 25 an apartment window was reported damaged on 2600 block of Harlem Avenue.
Matthew Rivera, 21, of 2947 N. 79th Ave., was arrested at 8:55 p.m. May 25 on 2900 block of 74th Court and charged with criminal damage to property. His court date is July 13.
At 9:30 a.m. May 26 a parkway was reported damaged on 7900 block of Fletcher Avenue. Sometime between 1:30 p.m. May 25 and 7:50 a.m. May 26 a vehicle drove over the sidewalk and parkway damaging the lawn.
At 12:42 p.m. May 26 a window was reported damaged on 2400 block of 78th Court. Sometime overnight the basement window was broken.
At 8:44 p.m. May 28 a sign was reported damaged on 2900 block of 75th Court.
At 3:15 p.m. May 29 a garage was reported damaged on 2500 block of 73rd Court. Unknown persons tampered with the deadbolt lock to the garage.
At 11:14 a.m. May 31 a vehicle was reported damaged on 7800 block of Cressett Drive. Unknown persons smashed the passenger side window of a car.
At 1:58 p.m. June 2 a residence was reported damaged on 7500 block of North Avenue. Unknown persons threw a chair into a window.
At 3:06 p.m. June 2 a garage was reported damaged on 2200 block of 73rd Court. Sometime between 7:30 p.m. June 1 and 1:30 p.m. June 2 unknown persons damaged a garage door.
At 5:52 a.m. June 3 a car was reported damaged on 2400 block of 76th Avenue. Unknown persons damaged the windshield of a black Crown Victoria with a baseball bat or other blunt object.
At 10:47 a.m. June 3 a business was damaged on 7800 block of Belmont Avenue. Unknown persons smashed the front window of Tobacco Express.
BATTERY
At 8 p.m. May 25 a battery was reported on 7400 block of North Avenue. A man spit in the victim’s face.
Bogdan Murzyn, 46, of 7841 Oakleaf Ave., was arrested at 11:53 p.m. May 27 on 7800 block of Oakleaf Avenue and charged with domestic battery. His court date is May 31.
At 11:05 p.m. May 29 a domestic battery was reported on 7900 block of Sunset Drive.
MARIJUANA
John E. Knowles, 39, of 8038 W. Grand Ave., River Grove, was arrested at 4:06 p.m. June 2 on first block of Conti Parkway and charged with possession of marijuana. His court date is June 22.
Robert J. Majewski, 52, of 2506 N. 77th Crt., was arrested at 4:06 p.m. June 2 on first block of Conti Parkway and charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. His court date is June 13.
TRAFFIC
Clinton A. McGrew, 23, of 4771 N. Castle #2A, Harwood Heights, was arrested at 5:01 a.m. May 26 on 3000 block of Harlem Avenue and charged with driving without a valid driver’s license. His court date is June 22.
DUI
Alejandro Perez, 34, of 2327 N. 77th Court, was arrested at 11:37 p.m. May 27 on 2200 block of 74th Court and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol. His court date is June 22.
River Grove
DUI
Jerome Matthews, 67, of 2533 N. Oak Park Ave., Chicago, was arrested at 6:11 p.m. May 26 on 8200 block of Grand Avenue and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol and speeding. His court date is July 27.
Bryan Fleming, 23, of 2116 N. Narragansett Ave., Chicago, was arrested at 3:26 p.m. May 26 at Grand and Thatcher Avenue and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol, disobeying a peace officer, driving on a suspended license and driving without vehicle insurance.
