Police Blotter for Elmwood Park and River Grove, May 9-May 16

The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the Elmwood Park and River Grove police department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.

Elmwood Park

BURGLARY

At 8:20 a.m. May 10 a burglary was reported on 1600 block of 75th Avenue. Someone entered an unlocked garage service door and smashed out the driver’s vent window of a vehicle inside the garage and took an Ipod, GPS unit vehicle and a grass edger from the garage.

At. 6:15 p.m. May 10 a burglary was reported on 1600 block of 74th Court. Sometime between 10 p.m. May 9 and 6:15 a.m. May 10 a person removed a 10-speed Schwinn bicycle from an unlocked garage.

THEFT

At 7:31 p.m. May 10 on 1800 block of Harlem Avenue a man walked out of Staples with 2 Dell Streak tablets, several leather cases and blank DVDs. Value: $984.43.

At. 12:17 p.m. May 14 on 7900 block of Westwood Drive a person roomed a 1977 PUCH gas assisted bicycle from the backyard of a residence.

TRAFFIC

Thomasz W. Minor, 26, of 8543 W. Rascher Ave., Chicago, was arrested at 4:23 p.m. May 11 on 7900 block of Sunset Drive and charged with driving without a valid driver’s license. His court date is June 16.

DUI

Dwayne H. Wilson, 23, of 3917 N. Nordica Ave., Chicago, was arrested at 5:04 p.m. May 14 on 7200 block of Grand Avenue and charged with driving while under the influence and driving on a suspended license. His court date is June 16.

OBSTRUCTION

Elicia Santiago, 20, of 204 Armitage Ave., Northlake, was arrested at 5:04 p.m. May 14 on 7200 block of Grand Avenue and charged with obstruction. Her court date is June 16.

River Grove

DELINQUENCY OF A MINOR

James McGuire, 18, of 2537 Wood St., was arrested at 2:54 a.m. May 16 on 2500 block of Wood Street and charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. According to police, McGuire and three juveniles were allegedly sitting in a car drinking alcohol. His court date is June 2.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

Anthony Scimo, 28, of 4515 Rose St., Schiller Park, was arrested at 8:08 p.m. May 13 in Franklin Park and charged with criminal damage to property and criminal trespassing. According to police, Scimo allegedly sliced his ex-girlfriend’s car seats with a sharp object and entered her home in Elmwood Park without her permission. His court date is May 18.

DUI

Stacey Svobda, 33, of 3312 Cullom Ave., Chicago, was arrested at 9:45 p.m. April 30 at Grand Avenue and Webster Street and charged with driving while under the influence, driving with open alcohol and driving on a suspended license. Her court date is June 2.

Pedro Gahena, 32, of 5750 W. Giddings Ave., Chicago, was arrested at 2:12 a.m. May 1 on 8700 block of Grand Avenue and charged with driving while under the influence, no valid driver’s license and no auto insurance. His court date is May 4.

Tadeusz Sibga, 38, of 1234 N. Chestnut St., Arlington Heights, was arrested at 7:18 p.m. May 1 at Grand Avenue and Davisson Street and charged with driving while under the influence. His court date is June 2.

RESISTING

Kristina Jensen, 18, last known address 1109 Holiday Lane, DesPlaines, was arrested at 8:48 a.m. May 7 on 2600 block of Thatcher Avenue and charged with resisting arrest and illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor. Her court date is June 16.

Drugs

James Hill, 48, of 6894 Zurich St., Tinley Park, was arrested at 7:06 p.m. May 6 on 8000 block of Grand Avenue and charged with possession of a controlled substance and driving while under the influence. His court date is June 1.
