Elmwood student named SCOTY winner
Updated: May 27, 2012 8:03AM
Each year, Elmwood Park-areaa students are nominated by teachers for a special award given by West 40, the district’s Intermediate Service Center.
This award, called the “SCOTY,” is given to students who are good school citizens, as determined by criteria that are important to the student’s home school community. Grades and activities are only a small part of the selection criteria.
This year, one student, Marvelle Green, a sixth-grader at Elmwood Elementary School, received multiple nominations. Marvelle was recognized for his ongoing willingness to help students and teachers without seeking reward. He is hard working, responsible and a positive role model for others. Marvelle was recognized at a special ceremony at West Leyden High School.
