Leyden FBLA members win at conference

Students from both the East and West campuses who are members of the Future Business Leaders of America organization attended the 63rd Illinois Future Business Leaders of America State Leadership Conference on March 30-31, at the Decatur Conference Center & Hotel in Decatur, Ill.
More than 1,300 members, advisers and guests from 70 Illinois FBLA chapters attended the conference. The two-day state conference included activities in personal development, business and leadership training, election of 2012-2013 state officers and competitive events.
West Leyden students won the following individual, team and chapter competitive events: Katie Gonzalez, Sixth place in Business Plan and Third place in American Enterprise Project; and Robert Woods, Fifth place in Business Procedures.
East Leyden students won the following individual, team and chapter competitive events, and also qualified to go to the FBLA National Competition to be held June 28-July 2, in San Antonio, Texas: Bart Miskowiec, First place in Computer Problem Solving; Toni Milushev, First place in Database Design and Applications; Ashley Boyte, Seconnd place in Impromptu Speaking; Vishal Shah and Anthony Diminico, Second place in Computer Game and Simulation Programming; Pawel Galusza, Second place in Business Calculations; and Tom Kubas, Third place in Economics.
The following East campus students also placed at the event: Karolina Moniuszko and Pablo Ramirez, Third place in Community Service Project; Vicky Szczpanska, Lukasz Kosakowski and Joey Munoz, Fifth place in E-Business; and Deep Shah, Avani Shah and Sywia Sokolowski, Sixth place in Business Presentation.
The FBLA organization is the largest student business association in the world.
