Students at Guerin College Preparatory High School, 8001 W. Belmont Ave., River Grove, became the first group to ride the X-Flight Roller Coaster after winning an online contest sponsored by Six Flags Great America.

On May 9, more than 250 students, staff and faculty were bused to Six Flags in Gurnee to ride the rollercoaster and accept a $1,000 prize.

“Being invited to Six Flags was great fun for everyone and the students made it happen,” said Guerin Prep teacher Nancy Konrath, who introduced the student body to the online contest.

Many of the Guerin Prep community rode the rollercoaster multiple times as the ride was available to them exclusively for 90 minutes.
