Tiger Tear 5K raises $4,400

The Elmwood Park High School Athletic Booster Club held its 3rd annual Tiger Tear 5K on May 20.

It was a beautiful day, we had over 250 participants and raised over $4,400 for the EPHS Athletic Booster Club. Through our fundraisers we are able to provide some of the extras that the school district may need help with at this time. In the past four years we have helped the school with the following: New Scoreboards for the main gym, a light weight wrestling matt, poles and a pit for track, raincoats for soccer, a grill for the football games and other events, an alumni tent, benches for girls softball and boys baseball, blocks for track, exercise equipment, pass back machine for basketball, help with the school’s new electronic sign, aerodynamic bicycles, a tractor to help maintain the fields, a cart for the trainer, an outdoor public address system, and four yearly scholarships to graduating seniors. Currently we are looking into helping with fix up the tennis courts which the whole community uses.

This could not be accomplished without the help of our student/athletes, their parents, teachers, coaches, volunteers, EPHS, community and our wonderful sponsors. I would like to thank the sponsors of this year’s Tiger Tear 5K as it could not have been such a fabulous event without them. Our sponsors were: The Regular Republican Voters League, Silvestri for Cook County Commissioner, First Security Trust and Savings Bank, Forte Plumbing, Hagen’s Automotive, Athletico, Belmont Funeral Home, State Farm Insurance-John Higgins, Acosta Sales & Marketing, www.gobrag.com, American Mattress, American Custom Silkscreening, www.ChristopherDoyleMBA.com, Caroline’s Hair Design, Dalmares Produce Inc., Dynamic, Elmcrest Banquets, Elmwood Park Neighborhood Civic Organization, Gottlieb Fitness, State Representative Skip Saviano, Mori Milk, Sure Staff, Trader Joe’s, Inari Sushi & Sake Lounge, BCBG Prestige Fragrances, Ed Hardy Fragrances, True Religion Fragrances, Baciami Restaurant & Bar, The Car Wash, The Play Room, Costco of Melrose Park, Staples of Elmwood Park & Russells.

Lastly, we cannot thank the Elmwood Park Police and Fire Departments and the River Grove Police Department enough for all of their help in making our 5K a safe one!! I received many comments on how impressed our participants were with the police coverage.
