River Grove Public Library gears up for fall
Updated: October 7, 2012 6:16AM
RIVER GROVE — With summer officially over, all of us at the River Grove Library are gearing up for fall programs.
Starting the week of Sept. 24, we will once again offer 1-on-1 computer, e-reader and device classes. We are also happy to announce 1-on-1 Job Search Skills workshops starting on Sept. 12, focusing on topics such as résumés, interviews and the online job search and job applications. When registering, please indicate the workshop topic. All programs are free of charge, but require registration. Register by calling the library at (708) 453-4484.
The library is excited to announce that we now have a Parent/Teacher shelf. This section, located in the Children’s Reference area, contains practice workbooks in math, science, phonics and reading comprehension. There are also curriculum books for each grade level.
While the books are for in-library use and copying, we will offer 10 free copies a day for September – first-come, first-served.
September is also Library Card Sign-Up Month. In honor of this, the library will do Food For Fines the entire month of September. Bring in nonperishables or school supplies and we will take off overdue fines on River Grove materials. Two items equal $1 off fines.
All items will be donated to the River Grove Food Pantry. We will also offer free lost library card replacements.
Happy reading.~.
Marissa Tartaglia is a librarian at the River Grove Public Library at 8638 W. Grand Ave., in River Grove.
