Elm Leaves

Thank you for 23 years

As I prepare to leave my role as Village Manager of Elmwood Park, I am reminded of what a wonderful community Elmwood Park has become.

Not just because of the great village services, location and affordable home prices, but because of the residents. Generations of families have decided to put down roots here and are committed to the future of this community. Our merchants and businesses have invested heavily in our community and we are all indebted to them for it.

I want to thank all of the many dedicated and hard-working village employees, the police officers, public works employees and firefighters, all the people who run the day-to-day operations of this village and who have made my job such a pleasure to have for the past 23 years. It’s been a labor of love in many ways.

My hat is also off to Village President Pete Silvestri and all of the Village Trustees who have served during my time here at the village. They love this community and it shows.

To all of the detractors I say, no community is perfect. No group of elected officials is perfect. Residents should provide feedback and ask questions. But, the attacks I’ve seen over the past two years are anything but spirited debate. They tear at the very fabric of what’s made Elmwood Park such a unique municipality.

Thank you for 23 years,

John “Jay” Dalicandro
