NORTHLAKE — Gilbert Sanchez normally plays tuba in the band room at East Leyden High School. Last week, however, he and some of his fellow students got to perform at Symphony Center in downtown Chicago. “Normally we play in a little room,” said Sanchez, 18. “Symphony Center is made for the acoustics. The sound is totally different. How crazy is it that we were able to play there.” Sanchez performed with 50 other students and 15 alumna ranging in age from 18 to 73.
