Swimming: Fenwick swimmers earn honors

OAK PARK— The National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association named Fenwick swimmers to its 2011-12 All-America list.
The Fenwick High School Boys 200-yard freestyle relay of Viken Huening, Tommy McGuire, Justin White, and Dan Kelly made the cut with a time of 1:25.56.
Girls making the All America list were: the 200 medley relay of Maggie Sheean, Haley Wickham, Mimi Schneider and Maureen Barron (1:42.50); the 200 free relay of Schneider, Paulina Kaminski, Wickham and Barron (1:34.04); Kaminski (1:03.96) and Wickham (1:04.81) in the 100 breaststroke; Schneider (:53.57) in the 100 fly; and the 400 free relay of Kaminski, Wickham, Barron and Schneider (3:25.22).
In addition, Schneider qualified and competed in the Olympic Trials at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Neb., where she finished 69th in the 50-meter freestyle (26.29), 66th in the 100 freestyle (56.94), 130th in the 100 backstroke (1:05.00) and 115th in the 100 butterfly (1:02.54).
Fenwick water polo player Matt Farmer will also be competing with the USA Water Polo Men’s Junior National Team in Hungary and Italy from August 10-12. Farmer is the only player from the Midwest on the Junior National Team traveling to Europe this summer.
